THEATRE
THREE, located in Port Jefferson, New York, is a
year-round not-for-profit professional regional theatre that was
founded in 1969. For over forty years, Theatre Three has
occupied Athena Hall, a 160-year-old historic building.
Each year, Theatre Three presents a Mainstage season of six
productions (three musicals, two plays, and its acclaimed
production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.)
Theatre Three's Mainstage seasons have offered a wide variety of
productions including the Long Island premieres of THE BRIDGES
OF MADISON COUNTY; NEXT TO NORMAL; I AM MY OWN WIFE;
INTO THE
WOODS; CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD; M BUTTERFLY;
PRELUDE TO A KISS;
MR. CINDERS; SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME; and ALL IN THE TIMING; as
well as the world premieres of SUMMER OF '69: RETURN TO
WOODSTOCK; 1968: ROCK THE WORLD; WHERE THERE'$ A WILL;
TREASURE
ISLAND: A MUSICAL ADVENTURE; THE IRISH LEGACY; BEFORE I WAKE;
and THE FACULTY ROOM.
THE FESTIVAL OF ONE-ACT PLAYS, on The Ronald F. Peierls, on the
Second Stage, has produced over one hundred world premieres,
selected from thousands of submissions world-wide. FRIDAY NIGHT
FACE-OFF, in its nineteenth season, is Long Island's
longest-running improv troupe.
THEATRE THREE'S Dramatic Academy offers three semesters each
year (Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer) with classes for ages 6
through 18. Our MUSICAL THEATRE FACTORY presents two
all-student productions each summer.
The in-house Children's Theatre is Long Island's only theatre
committed to presenting original musicals for audiences of all
ages. It has presented programs on a wide array of subjects:
ecology (ROBINSON ROBOT AND THE LOST HALLOWEEN), the dangers of
smoking (PUFF-THE-NOT-SO-MAGIC DRAGON), honesty (THE BOY WHO
CRIED WEREWOLF), and race relations and the homeless (THE THREE
LITTLE PIGS OR HOME IS WHERE YOU HOLD YOUR HEART). Our in-house
children's programs are both entertaining and educational.
THEATRE THREE's Educational Touring programs have been presented
in schools and community centers across the tri-state area,
as far south as Washington and Virginia, and as far north
as Richmond Hill, outside of Toronto. "FROM THE FIRES: VOICES OF
THE HOLOCAUST" and the two bullying project musicals "CLASS
DISMISSED" and "STAND UP! STAND OUT!" have been seen by thousands
of students.
THEATRE THREE's Summer Concert series has played host to a wide
variety of entertainment including the LONG ISLAND COMEDY
FESTIVAL; THE DUPREES, THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE; TED VIGIL AS JOHN
DENVER; ELLEN MICHELMORE'S WOODSTOCKMANIA; and many more.
