Tuesdays, July 22 & 29 at 7:00 pm

Auditioning strong performers ages 18 and up for LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Prepare 16 bars from the song of your choice. Bring sheet music in the proper key; accompanist provided. Be prepared to dance. Readings from the script. Bring headshot/resume if available. Callbacks to be determined. Rehearsals will begin in August.

Book by Harvey Fierstein. Music by Jerry Herman. Based on the play by Jean Poiret. The story takes place in St. Tropez. Jean-Michel prepares to bring his fiancée, Anne, home to meet his parents
his father, and his father's gay partner. Unfor-tunately, the fianc
ée's family is very conservative, and Jean-Michel would rather not have them meet his dad's over. Based on the play and the film of the same name.

THE ROLES OF GEORGES AND ALBIN HAVE BEEN CAST. ALL OTHER ROLES ARE OPEN.

Jean-Michel (Lyric Baritone, late teens-early 20s). The result of Georges' brief stint as a straight man. Handsome, masculine, well-mannered, educated; desperately in love with his fiancée, Anne. Acts, sings and moves well.
Edouard Dindon (40s to 50s). Anne's father; right-wing radical politician, Deputy General of the Tradition, Family, and Morality Party; a pompous bigot; quirky; must sing, move well, and be a fine comedian.
Renaud. Friend of Georges and Albin; owns a small café. Some singing.
Francis. Stage manager in Georges' club; strong actor/dancer.
Jacob. George and Albin's "maid." Outrageous, flamboyant comedian.

Anne (late teens-early 20s). Lovely, winsome, spunky. Good singer and superb dancer.
Marie Dindon (40s to 50s). Anne's mother; shy, retiring, and sexually repressed; good singer and actress who moves well; must look great in a leotard for the finale.
Jacqueline (40s to 50s). Friend of Georges and Albin; owns a chic restaurant; attractive, charming; very theatrical; good character singer.
Babette. The wardrobe mistress.

Chorus of Cagelles. The nightclub's chorus performers. Men and women who must sing and dance (in heels) extremely well. Must have good comedic timing. Chantal, Hanna, Phaedra, Mercedes, Derma, Nicole, etc.

Plus, singing/dancing ensemble of men and women who populate St. Tropez.

THEATRE THREE
will hire one full-time actress

She should be between ages 18 and 30 or appear high school age. Strong singing is a plus.

Position entails:

All educational touring programs. Currently, there are three:

  • FROM THE FIRES: VOICES OF THE HOLOCAUST. This play chronicles the life of a single Berlin teenager, Rachel Gold, from the Nuremberg Laws through deportation to Auschwitz and finally death-march to Mauthausen. On tour for 12 seasons, it has been performed over 475 times for over 120,000 people. Grades 6-12.
  • CLASS DISMISSED: THE BULLYING PROJECT. An original musical in its third year on tour. Grades 4-12.
  • THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. In its second year, this will tour Pre-K through 4th grades. It is a selection of popular children's stories and fables.

All in-house productions of Children's Theatre. These are original one-hour musicals. Currently scheduled:

  • BARNABY SAVES CHRISTMAS (November-December)
  • LITTLE BO-PEEP & THE GREAT LOST SHEEP CAPER (January-February)
  • THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT (February)
  • RAGGEDY ANN & ANDY (March)
  • THE ADVENTURES OF PETER RABBIT (April)
  • CINDERELLA (May-June)

All performances of the 25th annual Mainstage production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL (approximately 55 performances from mid-November through December 29).

Contract runs from Sept. 8, 2008 through June 14, 2009. The contract requires actors' theatrical work be exclusive to THEATRE THREE during the nine months.

Salary is $350/week plus a year-end bonus of $1,400 (no partial bonuses for contracts not completed). In addition, there is an incremental per-performance bonus based on number of educational touring performances (up to 100 performances are part of the base salary of $350; all performances of the three educational touring programs beyond 100 will be compensated at $35/ performance). This past season we had over 150 performances total.

Additional compensated work at THEATRE THREE can include performance in Mainstage and Second Stage productions, running crew, stage management, laundry, etc.

This position will be auditioned until it is filled.
